Dental Prophy

We have talented and experienced dental hygientists that will remove the plaque and tartar deposits that accumulate on your teeth over time. We will allow approximately 45 minutes for your dental prophy and necessary x-ray updates. We will use an ultrasonic instrument to remove some of the hardened deposits and complete the prophy with fine curette instrumentation. Once all surfaces are smooth and clean we will polish your teeth with a specialized gritty toothpaste and a soft rubber cup. Topical fluoride is usually administered to children via soft foam trays at the end of the visit. Most people find dental cleanings painless; however, nitrous oxide can be administered upon request. We will examine you to determine the status of your dental health. If further treatment is required, we will schedule you appropriately.

Zoom! Teeth Whitening

As we age tooth discoloration, is often exacerbated by drinking soda, tea, coffee, and smoking. The Zoom! Whitening process is a fast, safe, and effective way to bleach your teeth. The entire whitening process takes about 90 minutes. After covering your gums and lips, the Zoom! Whitening Gel is applied to your teeth. The Zoom! Light is then positioned over your mouth for 15 minutes, and this is repeated two additional times during the same session. The Zoom! Whitening Gel is comprised of hydrogen peroxide and bleaches your teeth by releasing oxygen into the enamel and dentin. The Zoom! Light helps activate the gel for better penetration into the tooth. Flouride is applied after the procedure to reduce any potential sensitivity. Take home trays can be provided for future home maintenance of your Zoom! procedure. This will keep your newly aquired smile bright for years to come. Dr. Jaslove will always examine a patient prior to Zoom! treatment to determine if you are a candidate.

Cosmetic Fillings/Bonding/Amalgams

Dental amalgam has been a commonly used dental material to treat and fill dental decay. It has been noted for its strength and durability. We still consider it to be a safe dental material. There has been an increased emphasis on metal free smiles. Tooth colored fillings may be more appropriate for patients concerned about aesthetics. Composite or tooth colored fillings mix resin and fillers and are bonded in place. Dental bonding with composite can repair stained, cracked, or chipped teeth. A tooth colored resin is applied to your tooth, and a special light is used to bond or harden the material. We can artfully change the shape of teeth, close spaces, improve the appearance, and remove the decay with composite bonding and fillings.

Veneers/Laminates

Covering the front surface of your tooth with bonded porcelain is what we refer to as a veneer. Veneers restore the appearance of broken, chipped, discolored, misshapen, or poorly spaced teeth. Preparing the tooth for a veneer involves altering the front surface and edge of the tooth. A dental impression is taken and sent to a dental laboratory. The veneer is fabricated and then bonded to the tooth at a subsequent visit. Your smile can be transformed in just two visits.

Crowns/Bridges

Teeth that are damaged by extensive decay or have large restorations very often need to be restored with a crown. The tooth is appropriately shaped, and an impression is taken. We will then place a temporary crown to cover the prepared tooth. At a subsequent visit, the crown is checked for proper fit and color. Then it is cemented in place. Fixed bridgework replaces a missing tooth using the adjacent teeth for support. The supporting teeth are shaped in a similar manner as discussed earlier for crown preparation.

Implants

Dental implants are a popular and highly successful option for replacing missing teeth. A titanium cylinder is placed into the bone. After the implant fuses with the bone it can be restored with an abutment post and crown. Multiple implants can help support fixed bridgework or dentures. Since the implant is surgically placed, it resembles your natural teeth in shape and function. Most patients can successfully have implant dentistry with current bone grafting techniques. Implants allow us to restore a patient's dentition in ways that were impossible as recently as 20 years ago.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy relieves pain by removing the nerve located inside the pulp and roots of the tooth. Access is achieved through the dental pulp and the nerve tissue is removed with hand and rotary instrumentation. The canals are sterilized with flushing irrigation and, the canals are then ready to be filled with a rubber like material. In consultation with Dr. Jaslove a final restoration is recommended and completed. This allows you to maintain your natural tooth.

Periodontal Therapy

If you demonstrate signs of periodontal disease, treatment can help improve your dental and overall health. Dental plaque and tartar that forms below the gumline can be removed with scaling and root planning. Your pocket depths are measured and, we utilize this information along with dental x-rays to formulate a treatment plan designed for you. More extensive cases are sometimes referred to a periodontal specialist. Arestin, a topically placed antibiotic, is often used as an adjunct therapy to help treat this condition.

Extractions

While it is our goal to attempt to save your teeth, sometimes a tooth needs to be extracted. Very often we can provide the routine or simple removal of your tooth. Should you require extensive oral surgery to remove a tooth we will refer you to a trained and experienced oral surgeon specialist.
